What are the maintenance requirements for synthetic turf?

One of the beauties of a synthetic bent grass putting green is the ease of maintenance and their long term durability. No watering, no mowing, no fertilizing. No daily maintenance required, just a little TLC is required now and then.

A well maintained green will be beautiful and functional for years of enjoyment if you follow a few easy steps. Primarily, the homeowner needs to keep the surface free of debris and lawn clippings. Use a leaf blower, broom or rake to keep it clean. The perimeter can be edged, using a string trimmer to maintain a clearly defined edge. Organic material can cause stains and hamper the putting surfaces function. Stains can be removed using mild household cleaner and, at worst, use a power washer.

Annually, the putting surface needs to be brushed and rolled. Brushing, or brooming, serves to loosen the silica sand infill and raises the turf fibers. Silica sand top dressing is evenly applied over the entire surface. Cups may be replaced if needed. Rolling the turf ‘bends’ the turf bringing the putting surface back to exacting performance. Rolling the synthetic bent grass turf allows for the speed, stemp, of the green to be set at the owner’s preference. This service will be done as a courtesy by The Prairie Greens Company following the first year of service. After that point, the homeowner may contract with us for this service, or we’ll provide the material and expertise, if the homeowner wishes to maintain it themselves.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. There is a warranty from manufacturer of EnvyLawn, Challenger Industries which covers material defects and UV protection for 5 years. Also, The Prairie Greens Company offers a one year warranty which covers any workmanship deficiencies. If there is a problem, we will fix it. Customer satisfaction is paramount to our service. Warranties do not cover damage, misuse or acts of nature.
